About the Band
City Line Kids – an Americana-Pop project founded by Baltimore singer-songwriter/ukulele player Alex Carle – has proven one thing to be undeniable since its formation in 2014: you never know what the band is going to release next. As Carle himself will tell you, “The music we make is in a state of constant change. Sometimes I want to make people dance. Sometimes I want to make people think. But every song has a different spirit behind it. I’m constantly working with different musicians – either in the studio or the stage – to create something I haven’t heard before.”
City Line Kids began to attract positive attention from fans and music reviewers alike following the release of their sanguine debut album, About Time (2016). The band embraced a wider variety of musical styles with their second album, Cosmic Paddleboard (2018), which blends elements of folk, pop, punk, rock, world, country, and reggae into 11 songs that are entirely unique from one another in both sound and attitude. More recently, City Line Kids have demonstrated their continued growth and newfound maturity through their newest singles ‘Moving Day’ (2019) and ‘Be Good For Me’ (2020).
The rising popularity of each new musical release has led to more and more performing and recording opportunities for Alex and City Line Kids. After an exciting and fast-paced year of playing at dive bars, state theaters, universities, hostels, tea houses, and a whole lot of music festivals around Maryland and beyond, Carle has returned to the studio to work on City Line Kids’ next CD release. In addition, Alex is working with various Baltimore producers to fuse his Americana sound with rap and pop styles. Carle is also the host of Mice In The Attic, a live show that explores the breadth of the Baltimore music scene with live performances and interviews with the area’s original artists.
